This Dragon was built in 1938 for an owner from Haarlem. She was built at the well-known De Vries Lentsch yard in Amsterdam.
Some time after 2000 she was found in a meadow in Belgium by a Belgian hotelier. This gentleman had the boat restored (read: rebuilt as new) at the Van Damme yard in Zeebrugge. This yard also restored the Dragon of the Belgian king, to give an idea of the level of work.
No cost or effort was spared in the rebuild; the boat was almost completely rebuilt. This restoration is well documented with photos.
Bronze fittings from Davies of London, Meissner bronze winches and winch handles with laser engraving (see photos) etc., sails, summer deck tent etc., all from 2005 but in almost new condition. Teak deck in perfect condition, mahogany superstructure, new wooden mast and boom and, which is special for a Dragon, a built-in engine.
We could go on for a while, however:
- the hull needs to be splined: due to drying out, the hull has cracked lengthwise in various places. This can be repaired well, after which the hull will probably need to be painted (so no longer clear varnish). You can do this repair yourself, or we can carry it out for you.

Zij is gebouwd op de bekende werf van de Vries Lentsch in Amsterdam. Ergens na het jaar 2000 aangetroffen in een weiland in Belgie door een Belgische hotelier. Deze meneer heeft het schip laten restaureren (lees nieuw laten bouwen ) op de werf van van Damme in Zeebrugge. Deze werf heeft ook de draak van de Belgische koning gerestaureerd, om even het niveau van werken aan te geven. Bij de herbouw zijn kosten nog moeite gespaard, het schip is nagenoeg volledig nieuw gebouwd. Deze restoratie is goed gedocumenteerd met foto's. Bronzen beslag van Davies uit Londen, Meisner bronzen lieren en lierhandels met laser inschriptie (zie fotos) etc. zeilen, zomer dektent etc. alle van 2005 maar in nagenoeg nieuw staat. Teak dek in perfecte staat, mahoniehouten opbouw, nieuwe houten mast en giek, en wat bijzonder is bij een draak, een ingebouwde motor. zo kunnen we nog wel even doorgaan, echter: -de romp moet gesplined worden, door uitdrogen is de romp op diverse plaatsen in de lengte gescheurd, dit is goed te repareren, romp moet daarna vermoedelijk wel geschilderd worden (dus niet meer in de blanke lak) Deze reparatie kan u zelf doen, wij kunnen dit ook voor u uitvoeren.
